Services
You are welcome here. Together, we can love one another, grow in faith, and continue building a rich community that embraces every individual. Join us and experience the warmth of First Presbyterian Church Longview, where you are more than a guest, you are a part of our family.
Worship
Join us every Sunday for in-person worship in our sanctuary or participate virtually from the comfort of your home. We follow a liturgical order of worship, which includes the reading and proclamation of the Word, confession and pardon, and prayers of thanksgiving and intercession. Music is an integral part of the worship service, and includes traditional hymns and special music from our Chancel Choir. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated often, and all are welcome at the table.
Childcare is provided for children ages birth through kindergarten during worship,, with strict adherence to safety measures. The children are briefly escorted into the service for “Children’s Chat.”
Ministries
First Presbyterian offers an exciting assortment of activities and ministries for all age groups, ensuring everyone finds a place to connect, grow, and serve within our community. In addition to adult Christian education and Sunday school, we are particularly proud of our youth program for teens, which meets weekly in The Fallout Shelter each Sunday. We enjoy a potluck lunch after worship on the second Sunday of the month and the children meet during lunch for Kid’s Corner activities.
We also host a community yoga class every Saturday, available to all free of charge. Our Chancel Choir and Carillon Handbell Ringers meet weekly to rehearse and fellowship together. You’ll also find Mahjong Mondays, Cards & Caring, along with more traditional offerings such as the Presbyterian Women’s Organization. With such a diverse range of activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and participate in.
Service
There are many opportunities to serve at First Presbyterian Church, whether volunteering within our community or financially supporting our mission and outreach efforts. We offer many volunteer opportunities, each catering to different interests and skills. In Longview, First Presbyterian Church regularly works alongside staff and volunteers at Newgate Mission’s Stewpot, Heartisans, Meals on Wheels, Camp Gilmont, Longview Community Ministries, the East Texas Alzheimer’s Association, and many more.
The Presbyterian Women host monthly hands-on activities to help fill the needs within the community, including Cards and Caring, and Celtic Stitchers. This regular commitment ensures a sense of continuity in our community service.
